What? A Fictional Sports Network? Have You Lost It, Commish?

That is a perfectly reasonable question.
The short answer is: perhaps—but not recently.
This season, The Chill is introducing The Chill Network, a completely fictional, AI-assisted sports entertainment network devoted to covering the very real teams, players, games and stories of our league.
Why? Because adult hockey should be more than schedules, standings and final scores.
The Chill has always been about the complete experience: the friendships, rivalries, ridiculous team names, spectacular jerseys, championship pursuits and little moments that make hockey one of the highlights of our week. The Chill Network gives us a fun new way to celebrate all of it.
Our fictional broadcast team will approach the season with the gravity of a national sports network—even when the subject is a questionable line change, an inexplicable uniform choice or a Cheechako scoring controversy that absolutely did not require a seven-person studio panel.
Chet Puckworth will bring distinguished authority and slightly more confidence than the available facts justify. Brooke Nelson will find the human story behind the hockey. Siobhan McCarthy will examine the style, culture and occasional audacity surrounding the league. Rock will bring us closer to the rink, while Dan Cassidy helps provide the perspective of someone who has seemingly seen everything—and is prepared to comment on most of it.
Together, they’ll bring humor, storytelling and a little good-natured absurdity to the season. But beneath the fictional personalities is a very real purpose.
The Chill Network will help us recognize player accomplishments, introduce the people behind our teams, explore league history, celebrate community, promote sportsmanship and occasionally give meaningful stories the space and depth they deserve. Some features will be completely ridiculous. Others may be thoughtful, personal or even important.
Knowing the difference will occasionally be left to the viewer.
The personalities are fictional. The hockey, results, achievements and human stories are real. Nobody will be singled out for embarrassment, and the joke should always be something we can enjoy together. Like everything else in The Chill, the guiding principle remains simple: compete, have fun and treat people well.
So, have I lost it?
Possibly.
But if a fictional sports network can bring a few more laughs, create stronger connections and make the 2026–27 season even more memorable, then losing it may have been one of my better ideas.
Welcome to The Chill Network.
Real results. League stories. Questionable analysis.
